Marketing Manager

Compensation: $25.50 - $37.50

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing the marketing strategies and activities for Dakota Sioux Casino & Hotel (“DSC”) and must demonstrate excellent guest service and leadership skills which focus on customer acquisition, retention, and overall player engagement.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, implements, controls, evaluates, and improves all aspects of the operations of the Sales & Marketing department with full accountability for financial planning and performance, protection and utilization of physical assets and supervision of employees in compliance with DSC policy and procedures. Coordinates all legal and contractual obligations with the General Manager and fiscal department.
  • Develops and manages the marketing budget, ensuring sufficient allocation of resources.
  • Monitors expenses and provides regular reports on budget performance.
  • Consults with primary income departments in the development, promotion, and implementation of short and long term promotional strategies to grow revenue for their respective areas.
  • Collaborates with advertising agencies and internal departments to create impactful promotions.
  • Communicates necessary information to internal departments to ensure effective implementation of various marketing programs.
  • Supervises and directs preparation of all promotional and event activities.
  • Responsible for strategically developing the vision and direction for the marketing department and DSC.
  • Leads and participates in management level meetings intended to communicate marketing initiatives for DSC.
  • Writes promotion and special event rules and ensures implementation occurs as designed.
  • Develop and implement programs to attract new players and create incentives for player retention.
  • Develops contracts, ensures the vendor, purchase, and contract approval process is followed and communicates to outside vendors and business partners as needed.
  • Works closely with other departments and agencies, such as administration and finance, to ensure alignment of marketing initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Assures compliance with all applicable Tribal, State, and Federal regulations.
  • To ensure that organizational and departmental goals and objectives are met, supervises, directly or indirectly, all department team members which includes the selection and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining team members; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • A.A. degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Five (5) years of managerial experience in a casino or hospitality setting.
  • Any combination of education in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
  • Experience analyzing and making recommendations on pricing and promotions.
  • Experience with advertising and/or direct marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with marketing promotions and/or special events.
  • Knowledge of the casino entertainment industry.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, positive presentation skills, and have the ability to present information and data to diverse groups.
  • Ability to create effective cross-company working relationships and execute on business plans which requires multi-division participation.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Key Gaming License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Minimal bending and lifting.
  • Repetitious computer work.
  • Pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.
  • Some work is done outdoors with inclement weather risks possible.
