ABOUT

The history of Jena Choctaw Pines Casino

The history of Jena Choctaw Pines Casino begins with the earliest record of the Choctaw Indians in 1540. In all, there were nearly 60 towns consisting of Muskogean-speaking people near the headwaters of the Pascagoula and Pearl Rivers.

After official recognition by the state of Louisiana as an independent and unique tribe in 1974, tribal elections were held to develop a governing body. After many arduous years, The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians received federal recognition in 1995. As a sovereign government, the Tribe focuses their efforts on the well-being of its tribal members and those of future generations.

After 15 years of planning and hard work, construction began on the Jena Choctaw Pines Casino. In 2013, the doors were opened to the beautiful new property, featuring 46,000 square feet of entertainment! With over 600 gaming machines, live poker and multiple dining options, the tribe continues to look forward to the future.
