Catawba Two Kings Casino is searching for a Director of Cage Operations and Sportsbook to join our team. In this role the Director of Cage Operations and Sportsbook, is responsible for the successful overall direction, administration, and coordination of all activities of the Cage Department in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and Internal Controls of Catawba Two Kings Casino. This position works with the Director of Finance, the Cage Manager, Senior Management, and other Executive Team members to follow practices,processes,andpoliciesthatensurethatthehighestlevelofguestserviceis always provided to all guests, internal customers and other outside parties while protecting the company's assets and complying with all Federal, State, Tribal, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Cage Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Cage Operations, as well as Sportsbook Operations.
  • The Director of Cage Operations is responsible for overseeing and guiding the Cage Manager in the direction, coordination, and evaluation of all Cage and Sportsbook functions and personnel.
  • Works with the Cage Manager, Senior Leadership, and other departments to ensure that the
  • Cage and Sportsbook meets the business needs and goals of the casino and its guests.
  • Ensures that all new-hire and related Cage training are completed effectively and in a timely manner. Monitors Cage training for effectiveness and ensures correct documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Ensures the accurate count and protection of the assets (cash and cash equivalents) of Catawba Two Kings Casino.
  • Oversees control of the supply of currency on hand, working with the Cage Manager to ensure that currency and coin levels are sufficient to always meet the casino's daily needs and legal requirements. Ensures that appropriate controls are in place and are followed diligently.
  • Responsible for all BSA/Title 31 documentation by the Cage. Monitors transactions and associated documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Address all variances, exceptions, and other shortfalls to policies/procedures in a timely manner. 
  • Ensures that Cage and Sportsbook practices result in efficient and accurate operations which follow all Federal, State and Tribal regulatory requirements.
  • Finds and implements savings whenever that can be done without compromising the safety and integrity of Cage and Sportsbook operations.
  • Develops and forecasts the department budget; manages and monitors department expenses resulting from daily operations and payroll.
  • Develop and manage Capex projects needed for the Cage and Sportsbook areas as well as planning for the expansion to come. 
  • Develops long-range goals. Allocates resources and establishes timelines to ensure that goals and objectives are met.
  • Participates in formulating and implementing company policies and developing long-range goals and objectives for the Cage and Sportsbook Department
  • Works with Compliance to discuss the property's risks and needs and to ensure that the Cage and Sportsbook are is in complete compliance.
  • Identifies potential risks and/or gaps in current Cage and Sportsbook operations and anticipates mitigating factors.
  • Develops specific strategies to mitigate or address the identified concerns.
  • Collaborate with Sportsbook provider to maintain the Sportsbook operation software and address all risks that arise and forwarded by the provider.  
  • Works with the Cage Manager and Supervisors to ensure the delivery and measurement of guest service practices are consistent with the company's core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Participates in the Casino's Guest Service and Team Member Recognition Programs.
  • Revises, submits, and implements Policies and Procedures for compliance with BSA requirements and gaming regulations.
  • Provides input into the research, development, evaluation, and implementation of new policies and processes to ensure the department's compliance with Tribal, State, Federal and NIGC regulations.
  • Creates a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and team member satisfaction.
  • Adheres to the company's philosophy and ensures that the Cage follows company policies and procedures.
  • Develops team member training procedures relating to the Cage, cashiering, Sportsbook and supervising.
  • Reviews the scheduling of Cage personnel, ensuring that the Cage is adequately staffed to always meet the level of business needs of the Cage and Sportsbook. Monitors the department's staffing levels to ensure that the department has the appropriate number of team members to meet the needs of the department.
  • Responsible for ensuring that issues relating to payroll and Human Resources are handled appropriately.
  • Compiles required and special reports on operating functions of Casino Cage.
  • Participates in activities outside the department that benefit the Company.
  • Advises and briefs the Financial Director and Executive Team on any issues of concern regarding the Cage and Sportsbook.
  • Description, where, in the Company’s judgment, those duties are necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity, or guest service.
  • Consistently maintains professional rapport and confidentiality in communicating with other departments as required by procedures (i.e., IT, Security, HR, Finance, Marketing and Surveillance, etc.).
  • Performs other duties and projects as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of Cage Management experience with Manager or Director level experience required.  * 2 years of experience in Sportsbook operation management.is preferred with knowledge of or be able to learn the Sportsbook Operation. 
  • Ability to work with large sums of currency in an accurate and secure manner.
  • Ability to design, implement, monitor, and audit documentation of all Cage transactions and changes to Cage accountability.
  • Knowledge of Casino operations.
  • Knowledge of Cage Equipment machines and vendors.
  • Management experience including personnel practices and employment laws, budgeting, and fiscal management practices.
  • Knowledgeable in FinCEN/BSA/Title 31 and Internal Control requirements.
  • Knowledge of and adheres strictly to all Gaming Regulations.
  • Understanding of fraud prevention and credit frauds.
  • Knowledge of paperwork flow regarding credits and debits.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, guests, peers, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and able to manage multiple priorities/projects at the same time.
  • Must be reliable, conscientious, and with suitable time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexible schedule and able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a Gaming License.

Physical Requirements
  • Some lifting and carrying is required. Lifting items weighing as much as 60 pounds may be required, but this should occur rarely, i.e., less than 15% of the time.
  • This position requires reaching, manipulating, and keyboard operation (typing).
  • This position requires sitting, stooping, standing, bending, and walking.
Working Conditions:

  • either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness to monitor the accuracy of each transaction.
  • This position requires intense and exacting mental and visual attention.

About the company

Catawba Two Kings Casino is a 1,000 slot temporary casino near the stateline with South Carolina and 33 miles west of Charlotte. The building includes about 29,000 square feet, with 14,700 dedicated to gaming and is open 24 hours everyday. The electronic table games include blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat. Food and beverages are available from a snack bar and food trucks.

A second-stage "temporary casino" will begin construction soon to provide a larger, permanent building with 1,360 additional slot machines. The casino will be followed by construction of a hotel and entertainment center.

The Catawba Nation is the only federally-recognized tribe in South Carolina. The Catawba Two Kings project will bring positive economic development and jobs to the 3,300 members of the Catawba Nation and Kings Mountain residents. The 700-acre Catawba Nation reservation is located on the banks of the Catawba River, which is only a 30-mile drive from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
