POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing and executing public relations strategies to enhance the Casino Resort’s brand and public image. The position will manage media relations, oversee communications campaigns, handle crisis communications, and work closely with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency. The position will be the key point of contact for media inquiries and manage the flow of information to the public through various channels, including all staff members from We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide exceptional guest service to external and internal guests by maintaining and exhibiting the We-Ko-Pa Way: Smile and Greet, Name and Meet, Thank you and Goodbye.
  • Create and implement PR strategies that align with the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort business goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, influencers, and stakeholders, including all staff members from We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort.
  • Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
  • Develop and implement crisis management strategies and handle any potential public relations crises.
  • Plan and execute PR campaigns to promote products, services, or company milestones.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce compelling content, including speeches, blogs, social media posts, and presentations.
  • Organize press conferences, interviews, and events that enhance We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort’s public image.
  • Oversee social media strategies to ensure cohesive and effective communication across platforms.
  • Track media coverage and provide analysis of PR campaign effectiveness.
  • Adjust strategies based on insights and feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including executives and employees to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Protect and enhance the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort brand’s image through ongoing reputation management efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds and push or pull 40 pounds
  • Must obtain and maintain a State/Tribal License (Including extensive background check).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be 21 or older.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication, journalism, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in public relations, communications, or related field.
  • Strong media contacts and experience working with the press.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  •  Ability to create press releases for the general public.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Crisis management experience a plus.
  • Experience with social media management and digital PR strategies
  • Proficiency in PR tools, analytics, and media databases.

  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants from federally recognized Indian tribes.  To be considered for Indian Preference, you must submit your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) with your application.
