Laundry Technician

SUMMARY:  

Responsible for the successful operation of machines in the Hinckley Laundry facility, and completion of all laundry functions for all properties, ensuring maximum productivity and superior customer service and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:  

  • Operates washing machines, dryers, and folding machines in accordance with recommended capacity and other manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Pre-sorts linens to locate and remove damaged items.  Follows all policy and procedures with regard to handling lost and found items.  Stores clean and folded linens in appropriate areas.
  • Assists in training at workstations when needed and consistently pays attention to details of each workstation to ensure maximum production.
  • Assist Grindstone Laundry Driver(s) in loading, unloading and weighing of the linens onto and off of trucks.
  • Notifies Grindstone Laundry Technician Supervisor or Manager of incidents or conflicts that affect normal business operations or customer services.
  • Responsible for complying with all Grindstone Laundry inspection processes.
  • Ensures compliance with energy conservation and job safety regulations.
  • Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company mission, vision and values.
  • Displays a high level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or ability to pass our Basic Skills Assessment.
  • 6 months previous commercial laundry or production environment experience preferred.
  • Or successful completion of a related company approved development placement program.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good hand eye coordination, be self-motivated, a team player and have schedule flexibility.
  • Must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small groups of associates.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

  • Talk, hear, read and write.
  • See and adjust focus to include close, distance, depth, and peripheral vision
  • Repeat the same actions, stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Handle objects, tools, and controls, reach with arms and hands
  • Lift, pull, push and/or move objects weighing 100+ pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:

  • Laundry Chemicals
  • Extreme heat during summer months
  • A moderate-to-loud noise level (Production Plant)
