The Opportunity:

We are seeking a charismatic People Officer to drive the development and success of our Mille Lacs Band Member Associates. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader, skilled in data-driven decision-making, project management, and communication.  This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing programs that empower Mille Lacs Band Member Associates to thrive both personally and professionally. The People Officer will serve as a key strategist, data analyst, project manager, and collaborator to drive meaningful growth and success for our Mille Lacs Band Member Associate community.

As our People Officer – MLB Growth Multiplier, you will:

  • Inspire and Empower: Build strong relationships with Mille Lacs Band Members, inspiring them to reach their full potential through support from your charismatic, loving leadership.
  • Holistically Plan: Oversee and develop a comprehensive tool that holistically supports the growth of Mille Lacs Band Members, including self-awareness building, financial literacy & planning, and family & community involvement.
  • Drive Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage data analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, informing strategic people decisions.
  • Project Plan: Oversee the implementation of initiatives, ensuring milestones are tracked and communicated, administering programs to motivate and energize participants.
  • Strategically Collaborate: Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to align initiatives with the broader goals of MLCV.  Facilitate open communication and collaboration across departments to promote unified efforts in supporting Mille Lacs Band Member growth.

  • Engagement of Mille Lacs Band Member Associates participating in wealth building activities and using financial planning tools developed by this office.
  • Efficient and effective gathering and reporting of Mille Lacs Band Member workforce data across our business units.

  • Hybrid Working Environment: This position requires an on-site presence at MLCV HQ for the first 90 days. Afterward, a minimum of 3 days per week on-site is required.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing 3 or more people.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, managing projects from start to finish, with a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Strong understanding of Mille Lacs tribal culture and customs.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR software.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred.
  • Ability to secure a Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA) license.
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
