BASIC FUNCTION (the primary purpose of this position):

Oversees activities of the accounting, payroll,  revenue audit and Cage department functions and systems. The primary responsibility is to establish, monitor, and maintain systems, controls, and financial staff resources to insure the accurate recording of transactions on the books of the designated CEDCO entities, and the timely and accurate reporting of financial activity to management. Works with all departments and the Executive Director of Operations to meet Company objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a clean, safe, healthy and friendly work environment for employees and guests; report and direct safety issues to Safety Committee.
  • Maintains financial and operational accounting information and general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) industry standards, and management directives for the CEDCO entities.
  • Maintains all associated journals, schedules, and other documentation required to support the general ledger.
  • Produces accurate and timely statements, schedules, and reports in accordance with required timetable established by management.
  • Analyzes financial and occupational data and produces management reports.
  • Oversees payroll reporting and function for each CEDCO entity.
  • Coordinates and provides documentation to facilitate audits as necessary.  (External CPA, Gaming Commission, IRS)
  • Review internal control processes and recommend minimum requirement to comply with MICs, GAAP, or Gaming Commission/Management directives.
  • Coordinates budget preparation process for both Operation and Capital budgets for CEDCO properties.
  • Provide ratio and statistical review and analysis as requested by management.
  • Works closely with entities other than the CEDCO properties to ensure adequate cash flows and reporting.
  • Leads and supports the overall CEDCO Finance team to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely reporting of results and analysis.
  • Oversees the Cage operation working closely with the Cage Manager to ensure effective and productive scheduling and departmental compliance and effectiveness.                           
  • Complies with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training and development of Tribal Member employees following The Mill’s Tribal Member Preference policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (objective educational or technical training required; skills; and years of experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting required or an equivalent amount of education and work history.
  • CPA highly preferred.  
  • Minimum seven years accounting experience with demonstrated ability to accurately maintain a set of books, and produce financial statements and reports on a regular schedule; working knowledge of GAAP; casino accounting experience required.  
  • Minimum five years management level experience in the profession with a proven record of operating with high ethical standards.
  • Minimum three years computer experience with a high level of proficiency in working with spreadsheets; ability to utilize word-processing and other appropriate software to produce results.  
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Proven record of positive leadership and strong team relation skills.
  • Prior experience working with peers to source positive solutions to challenges and participation on property wide projects related to operations.
  • Professional appearance and attitude a must.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free work place policies.

The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park is owned by the Coquille Indian Tribe located on Highway 101 in North Bend.  The gaming facility features a waterfront hotel and RV Park. The casino which overlooks a beautiful bay provides over 600 slot machines, Blackjack, Spanish 21, 3 Card Poker, Pai Gow and electronic Craps.
