JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing a focused sales strategy to augment the organization’s Hotel and F&B occupancy and revenue goals.  Will be responsible for identifying the latent demand for hotel rooms and convention space, and defining strategies to solicit and capture market dominance, including cold calls and guest retention.  Will oversee negotiated corporate rates, contracted group business for both hotel and convention space.  Provides high level of focus on guest satisfaction through building guest relations and being attentive to guest needs.

EXTENT OF JOB AUTHORITY:

Interacts effectively with the public and fellow Team Members.  Provides excellent guest service at all times.  Responsible for exceeding the attainable sales goals, delivers upon established goals and objectives.   

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computer and routine paperwork.
  • Ability to handle a fast paced, loud environment and tolerate areas containing second-hand smoke.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and events as needed.
  • Ability to travel regularly and for prolonged periods.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and passion for sales is a must.
  • Highly motivated, energetic individual with demonstrated/proven track record of achievements exceeding the revenue objectives set forth.
  • Excellent multi tasking skills, exceptional time management skills, effective and articulate verbal and written communication.
  • High level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly influential, persuasive and persistent.
  • Must know correct business English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and sales contracts.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamental geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Prior knowledge and experience on Property Management Systems is highly preferred.
  • Must have a high level working knowledge of Microsoft applications specifically Word and Excel.
  • Must present a driver’s abstract to Human Resources prior to employment and must maintain a clean driving record during the length of employment. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES PERFORMED:

  • Ensure and maintain compliance with all ordinances, laws and other communicated expectations including but not limited to: NIGC Regulations, Yakama Gaming Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Tribal Internal Controls and other communications from regulatory personnel.
  • Identifies and tracks relevant industry and regional trends to define latent demand.
  • Defines and pursues strategies to solicit and capture market dominance.
  • Participates at industry events trade shows and/or partners with local attractions to drive incremental revenue.
  • Strives to exceed forecasted hotel room night, convention and F&B revenue goals.
  • Develops comprehensive knowledge of guest and market needs.
  • Works closely with the Front Office Manager to generate room nights and maximize room revenue.
  • Executes the sales business plan using effective sales techniques including in person contact and/or cold calls.
  • Uses all sales avenues, including telemarketing and networking to capture additional segments.
  • Effectively negotiates group rates including convention/event space and menu prices within the established / approved guidelines.
  • Channels inquiries, collects clients’ requirements, prepares proposals, negotiates details, and closes sales.
  • Prepares proposals and additional forms pertinent to the sales efforts.
  • Assists, as needed, in the implementation and billing of all related events such as room sales, convention space charges, and banquet billings. Submit purchase requisitions and check requisitions to pay for goods and services.
  • Communicates accurate information on in-house groups to help hotel team members service their needs most completely. Including creation of welcome letters and other collateral required for an event/conference. Maintains daily contact with in-house groups.
  • Coordinates events and builds relationships inside and outside of the hotel department, disseminates information in a timely manner regarding up-coming events to staff and casino guests and improves ways of working to provide a great guest experience.
  • Ensure all promotions are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Housekeeping Manager any scheduling needs for the Housekeeping staff, for assigning tasks and responsibilities pre, during and post events.
  • Anticipates or reacts to group problems and provides solutions.
  • Maintains effective communication, with all necessary contacts, regarding group business, reports of conventions, copies of correspondence and memos.
  • Evaluates events to facilitate guest and client feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that all guest checks, payments, master folios and advanced deposits are submitted properly; ensures that any other group information which is necessary and/or helpful for successful convention business is acquired and submitted to appropriate departments.
  • Authors a calendar publication for distribution, providing timely and accurate information to the relevant parties.
  • Ensures to a high degree the thoroughness and accuracy of departmental records and reports.
  • Performs property site tours with clientele as necessary.
  • Exhibits passion for the hospitality and gaming experience of our guests’.
  • Takes personal responsibility for delivering excellent guest experience.
  • Knows the overall property, the gaming offerings, and their locations.
  • Builds relationships inside and outside of their department / team to improve ways of working and provide a great guest experience.
  • Models for the team, a strong work ethic and is visible, available and present for the guest and their team.
  • Identifies ways to improve workflows and processes to work smarter and increase efficiency.
  • Proactively shares guest feedback with executive management and peers in the spirit of continuous improvement

Legends Casino Hotel is located at 580 Fort Road in Toppenish, Washington between Yakima and the Tri-Cities. The property, owned by the Yakama Indian Nation, features more than 1,300 slot machines, 19 table games, including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Pai Gow, and Spanish 21. There is also live Keno, and 5 Poker Tables in a separate Poker Room.
