Position Summary

Under the direction of Chief of Security, direct and supervise Sergeants and Security Officers involved in monitoring casino and resort property, facilities and equipment to maintain a safe and secure environment for casino employees and patrons.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Chief of Security.

Supervises the work of Sergeants and Security personnel as assigned.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Supervises, coordinates and directs the work of Sergeants and Security Officers.
  2. Counsels with supervisors/employees and recommends disciplinary action(s).
  3. Trains employees regarding work assignments and casino and resort procedures.
  4. Oversees staffing assignments and locations.
  5. Enforces all general and specific security special orders and directives.
  6. Provides a safe and secure environment for associates and patrons.
  7. Reviews reported violations, conducts investigations and takes appropriate action.
  8. Oversees the inspection and monitoring of all security alarm systems, lights, fire and safety units.
  9. Ensures that patrons/guests meet minimum age and other entry requirements.
  10. Ensures that only authorized personnel enters secure areas.
  11. Assigns employees to deliver materials and/or escort employees/patrons to private vehicles, busses or other locations on or off casino property.
  12. Prepares detailed activity and related departmental reports.
  13. Contacts proper authorities in emergencies; i.e., Chief of Security, Chief Operating Officer, General Managers, Tribal Officials, Sandia Tribal Police, BIA, etc.
  14. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

  9. Ability to work odd and unusual hours, including weekends.
  1. Ability to deal with and communicate effectively with the public and casino staff.
  2. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
  3. Knowledge of casino rules and regulations desirable.
  4. Must be able to successfully pass all the following additional requirements:
  • Stringent background investigation
  • No felony convictions

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. High School Diploma or GED certification.
  2. Three (3) years’ experience in a law enforcement and/or security capacity.
  3. Prior supervisory experience totaling six (6) months.
  4. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  5. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.

Preferred

  1. One (1) year as a Sandia Resort & Casino Security experience.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors and outdoor.
  2. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
  4. Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm: smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  5. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
  6. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching.
  7. Specific required movements include the following:
  • Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry
  • Arms-reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, and rotate
  • Legs-lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate
  • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, overall and finger dexterity.
