Position Summary

Provide beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, highlighting, and styling hair, and massaging and treating scalp.  May also apply makeup, dress wigs, provide nail and skin care services.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Spa Manager or Spa Supervisor.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Provide hair care services such as cut/design, color and styling for guests, which would also include shampoo, condition and rinse guests hair as outlined in the SOP.
  2. Update and maintain customer information records, such as beauty services provided and guest preferences as outlined in the SOP.
  3. Set up work stations with necessary equipment and supplies to ensure guest comfort and safety as outlined in the provider checklist
  4. Educate, recommend, demonstrate and sell products relating to service.
  5. Restock all supplies leaving work station stocked for the next technician at the end of each shift as outlined in the provider checklist.
  6. Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional as outlined in the SOP.
  7. Follow all company policies and procedures maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
  8. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals.
  9. Must be knowledgeable of daily “stand-ups” and actively participate in daily goals.
  10. Must participate in computer based learning and implement these skills into the workplace.

  1. Knowledge of hair styling, skin care and hair removal techniques.
  2. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  4. Must have excellent time management skills.
  5. Must have basic math skills.
  6. Knowledge of hair products sold and the ability to promote and sell them.

Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience

Required

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Completed course of study at school or vocational institution for cosmetology
  3. The following license and/or certifications is required prior to employment start date: State of New Mexico Board of Cosmetology license.
  4. Three (3) years cosmetologist/hairstylist experience.
  5. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a Background Investigation. 

2.  Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors.
  2. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  4. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
  5. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching.
  6. Specific required movements include the following:
    • Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry.
    • Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate.
    • Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate.
    • Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
