The Opportunity

The Meat Cutter, reporting to the Meat Department Specialist, is responsible for maintaining the quality and quantity of products in the display cases, receiving and displaying stock, and ensuring cleanliness in the department. The role also involves assisting customers in a friendly and courteous manner.

What you get to do

· Efficient, profitable, and safe operation of the meat department, reporting to the Meat Department Specialist.

· Follow established procedures and schedules for ordering, receiving, storing, processing, pricing, rotating, and displaying all meat items.

· Maintain department cleanliness, including selling and backroom storage areas.

· Adhere to sanitation standards as required by the store and governmental agencies.

· Ensure the Meat Department meets quality, variety, pricing, and display standards set by the Meat Department Specialist.

· Identify and prepare various types of meat cuts (beef, pork, chicken), package and wrap meat products.

· Operate meat department equipment safely, including but not limited to a band saw, grinder, wrapping machine, and Hobart scale.

· Support advertised and in-store promotions.

· Contribute to creating the desired store image and customer relations.

· Monitor meat case and cooler temperatures within acceptable guidelines.

· Complete all duties and projects assigned by the Meat Department Specialist.

· Perform other necessary duties and responsibilities.

What Qualifies You

· Minimum of two (2) years meat cutting experience in a retail meat department.

· Obtain Serv-Safe certified within six (6) months of employment.

· Must be available to work weekends.

· Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

· Strong attention to detail, teamwork, organizational skills, and effective written and verbal communication.

· Dependable and well-organized.

· Ability to clearly explain and demonstrate concepts and skills to others.

· Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

· Collaborative problem-solving skills, interpreting company policies and procedures consistently and fairly.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

· Perform physical tasks, such as sitting, standing, handling objects, and operating equipment.

· Lift and carry items of up to 70 pounds, including bulk containers.

· Stock refrigerated cooler areas, working under temperature extremes for up to twenty minutes.
