The opportunity

Delaware North Gaming is searching for a full-time Track Maintenance Worker to join our team at Wheeling Island Casino in Wheeling, West Virginia. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and safety of the racing surface and associated equipment.

What will you do?

  • Ensures compliance racing commission standards as they apply to the track surface maintenance.
  • Continuously inspect track surface, infield, and tote board area and perform maintenance of the track and the racing surface.
  • Preparation of the racing surface, including ensure the track is free of any debris or obstacles and weeds.
  • Monitor track tubing to insure it is good working order to ensure proper moisture of track and the safety of greyhounds during racing.
  • Operate the track equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist in beautification projects as assigned.
  • Inspect boiler and heating tubes to ensure proper heating and moisture conditions.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the Director of Racing immediately.
  • Properly maintain kennel compound’s sprint path and associated grounds.
  • Landscape and mow racing related areas, including, track infield, all grounds around the paddock building and kennel compound.
  • Opreate motor vehicle when necessary.
  • Must be able to maintain driver’s license and pass drug screen.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Racing Commission License.
  • 1 year related experience preferred.
  • Opreate motor vehicle when necessary.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift or carry 50-90 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, push and pull, climb, mount and dismount forklift.
  • May be exposed to high volume noise.
  • May be exposed to extreme heat or cold.
  • Opreate motor vehicle when necessary.
  • Must be able to maintain driver’s license and pass drug screen.
