Shift: Overnights

Job Overview: The incumbent will provide direct supervision of the Surveillance Specialists and Senior Surveillance Specialists on their assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and hospitable environment for our guests, team members, and vendors. The Surveillance Supervisor will also provide training, mentorship, and facilitate communication with the members of their team. Responsible for the protection of casino assets and utilizes multiple casino databases and software programs to perform live observations and reviews of potential illegal activities while ensuring the safety of our guests and Team Members on all SMSC properties. Receives complaints/requests for assistance from other departments, guests or outside agencies via radio and telephone and assigns or advises Security personnel as needed. Supports and assists the Surveillance Shift Manager and in their absence, acts as the primary Surveillance contact. Becomes part of the Emergency Operations Center during large scale emergency events. Completes other duties and special projects as required. Completes detailed incident reports, daily logs, performance discussions and performance reviews.

Job Duties:

  • Supervises and supports the activities of Surveillance Specialists and Senior Surveillance Specialists. Assists the Surveillance Shift Manager to assign tasks and monitor performance for emergency response situations.
  • Generates, proof reads, closes and forwards Incident Reports, procedural violations, and Daily Activity logs.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and presentation of Surveillance new hire and remedial training programs. Participates in team member training and development.
  • Completes performance appraisals and administers disciplinary action as needed.
  • Collaborates with the other supervisors to ensure seamless coordination among all team members between each shift.
  • Performs the duties of Surveillance Shift Manager in their absence
  • Monitors gaming floor and other property operations through closed-circuit television to detect issues related to safety, security, asset protection and potential illegal activities by guests and/or team members. Communicates findings to Shift Manager and generates written reports. Acts in accordance to regulatory compliance through the monitoring and reporting of Title 31, gaming regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards, and procedures.
  • Performs video coverage requests using established business process and standard operational procedures.
  • Conducts incident reviews and investigations. Reviews incident reports and daily activity logs to extract pertinent information for incident recreation. Facilitates the creation and release of evidence packages (reports and copies of digital media) to assist other departments and outside agencies.
  • Conducts live observations and observation audits to identify and mitigate safety concerns throughout all SMSC properties. Works with the Risk Management department to document casino liability issues.
  • Analyze complex information from multiple sources, records findings and effectively communicates results to Director and other Executives.
  • Prepares shift schedules and assignments on a daily basis.
  • Works to resolve conflict with other departments, team members, guests or outside agencies.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Any combination of post-secondary education/certifications in law enforcement, military or security fields, customer servies and/or related experience to equal one year.
  • Must be able to pass a skills test which includes reading comprehension and basic math.
  • Successful completion of a training program that includes passing an Emergency Fire Panel Test within 30 days of hire, learning to use the Surveillance Video Management Software and CCTV system to follow guests throughout the property, and passing tests of position relevant policies and procedures to include MICS and Title 31.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Ability work with multi-line / channel phone and radio systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritize several incidences (tasks) simultaneously in stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changes in a normal workday.
  • Demonstrated outstanding communication and comprehension skills; ability to communicate effectively in English (orally and written).
  • Ability to remain calm and communicate details via phone or radio to responding team members or other authorized external responders during high stress incidents.
  • Ability to provide consistent exceptional service towards guests, team members, and vendors/contacts.
  • Must be able to complete regularly assigned training to keep skill set current and effective.
  • Compliance with established health and safety protocols.
  • Relationships with any SMSC Gaming Enterprise team members in cash or asset handling departments must be disclosed to the Surveillance Operations Manager in order to determine if they pose a conflict of interest.
