Position Summary:

The IT Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability, security, confidentiality, and integrity of Isleta Resort and Casino's Information Technology assets. Oversees daily IT security operations, performs threat and risk assessments, and provides critical recommendations for threat response strategies. Acts as the primary advisor on information security matters, proactively enhancing and configuring security infrastructure to mitigate evolving threats. Demonstrates and upholds World-Class Guest Service standards for all guests of Isleta Resort and Casino.

  • Maintains IT Security and technical knowledge by attending classes or educational workshops.
  • Proactively monitors Isleta Resort and Casino’s network and critical systems and databases for intrusions using SIEM/SOAR, EDR, and other IT Security tools.
  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing data to assist in eliminating risk and performances issues.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies for Isleta Resort and Casino.
  • Conducts risk assessments and business impacts on new systems and technologies.
  • Designs, develops, and enhances security tools for system architectures.
  • Defines security requirements for computer systems and suggests various solutions to implement.
  • Performs vulnerability management, and assists Infrastructure team to mitigate identified vulnerabilities and audits patch compliance.
  • Conducts Phishing test campaigns.
  • Leads Cybersecurity Awareness training initiatives to change organizational culture, creates content, materials, and leads training sessions for Isleta Resort and Casino Team Members.
  • Leads IT Security projects utilizing industry standard project management methodologies to improve the organization’s security posture.
  • May occasionally perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IT Security concepts, principles, and practices; computer/server operations and user environments.
  • In depth understanding of vulnerabilities management and common security applications.
  • Knowledge of NIGC MICS, POIGRA Regulations, departmental, and organizational policy and procedures.
  • Strong computer, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to accurately and successfully perform several tasks and meet deadlines under high levels of stress and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, in writing and verbally, in an effective, informative, and professional manner and be able to convey denials and/or defuse hostile guest situations with ease and tact.
  • Ability to be trained in multiple system programs.
  • Ability to apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills while working independently; managing projects; installing, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and monitoring system performance and network resources; and providing guidance to team members.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in information security, MIS, IT, or related field, preferred.
  • Certified in at least one of the following within a specified period of time after hire: CompTIA CySA+, ISC2 SSCP, or equivalent security certification; CISSP or CISM preferred.
  • Four (4) years working experience as an IT Security Administrator, preferred.
  • Four (4) years working knowledge of IT Security, preferred.

Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification:

  • Must acquire and maintain a Gaming License issued through POIGRA.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must maintain all Isleta Resort and Casino-wide and IT security and technical educational and certification requirements.
  • Flexible work schedule, willingness to work any days/hours as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift, move, and place 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in, both, a Casino setting with possible exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level, and a high paced office setting. Occasionally may be required to interact with hostile and/or angry guests.
