Position Summary:

The Compensation and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization’s compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitive and equitable employee rewards. This role involves assisting with salary structures, performance reviews, benefits enrollment, compliance with labor laws, and responding to employee inquiries related to compensation and benefits.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   • Coordinates compensation processes, audits compensation data, and maintains compensation databases.
  • Processes performance reviews.
  • Reviews and analyzes data in the HRIS system, identifies anomalies and irregularities and works with compensation and benefits program manager for resolution.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and administers employee benefit enrollments for new hires and the annual employee open enrollment.
  • Ensures that the organization’s pay practices comply with tribal, federal and if applicable, state laws and regulations.
  • Assists in monitoring compensation trends.
  • Ensures proper licensing/permitting and FLSA exemptions are applied.
  • Provides assistance with job description audits and makes recommendations on revisions.
  • Assists in employee Leave of Absences to include Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Medical Leave; Military Leave; Administrative Leave; Traditional Leave; Bereavement; and Jury Duty.
  • Provides support in processing and tracking workers compensation claims, as needed.
  • Resolves employee benefits-related issues and answers inquiries.
  • Processes incoming doctor’s notes and communicates to appropriate supervisors or managers.
  • Uploads merit increases into employee files in HRIS.
  • May Perform other duties, projects and/or assignments as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining benefit options, addressing employee inquires, and preparing reports.
  • Ability to analyze compensation data, benefits utilization, and market trends.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of benefits and compensation.
  • Ability to manage projects related to benefits program, open enrollment, and compensation reviews.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of proven work experience in human resources, or benefits administration required.
  • Experience with HRIS system(s).
  • Experience working with employee benefit or compensation programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.                               Or an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification:

  • Must acquire and maintain a Gaming License issued through POIGRA.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must maintain all Isleta Resort and Casino-wide educational and certification requirements.
  • Flexible work schedule, willingness to work any days/hours as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a seated or standing posture for extended periods.
  • Exhibit the capability to lift, move, and position objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Primarily operate within office environments, dedicating a significant portion of time to interpersonal interactions. The standard work schedule involves full-time commitment during regular business hours, and at times before or after operating hours.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in, both, a Casino setting with possible exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level, and a high paced office setting. Occasionally may be required to interact with hostile and/or angry guests.
