SUMMARY:

Responsible for forecasting, identifying, and monitoring the performance of the Slot Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties or responsibilities may be added.

  • Coordinates Team Member compliance for Slot operations. Tracks and monitors current gaming trends through analysis of local market competition.
  • Analyzes slot machine performance to ensure the Casino is performing at optimal levels and is competitive with the regional market.
  • Oversees Marketing Department to increase market share and increase revenue.
  • Approves and submits immediate and future objectives and plans for the department.
  • Provides for the development of organizational plans that follow and enable the attainment of future objectives and plans of the Slot department.
  • Provides for the analysis, evaluation, and recommendation affecting the development of changing of new or existing procedures and systems.
  • Identifies and recommends changes in company policies, plans, or programs.
  • Oversees all recruitment and retention of Team Members for the Slot Department.
  • Trains and evaluates Team Members’ performance during their shifts, providing coaching and counseling to ensure superior guest service.
  • Promotes timely and effective communication within and between the Slot Department and all other areas of the Mechoopda Casino.
  • Prepares financial forecasts and allocates funds, authorizes expenditures, assists in budget planning, and monitors Slot budget to ensure effective cost control.
  • Serves as an exemplar for Team Members through compliance with all Casino policies and procedures and promotes a safe and welcoming work environment.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Protects and increases the assets of the Company.
  • Any other duty as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years of casino or slot management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and managing multiple budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining external relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of industry standards and strategic game placement.
  • Understanding of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and State Compact.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective staff management and life cycle.
  • Knowledge of casino operations and Tribal and state reporting requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, or Electronics Engineering/Technology preferred.

  • Must be able to handle extended hours when necessary and varying shifts.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have good initiative to stay productive.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents and develop/recommend appropriate responses.
  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from guest, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to varying levels of staff and executives.

  • Bilingual helpful but not required.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret financial and accounting documents.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to gather and interpret data, develop recommendations, and analyze results.

  • To communicate verbally, observe with own eyes, and give and receive information through listening and conversing. Specific vision abilities required by the job include clear vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting of 50 pounds.
  • Standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms may also be required while performing the job duties.

About Mechoopda Casino

Mechoopda Casino is an Indian gaming casino owned by the Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria (Tribe). The casino is located near Chico, California, on a 91-acre site near Highways 99 and 149 on the south bank of Clear Creek. The casino is over 42,000 square feet and features over 450 slot machines, a full-service bar, and cafe.

Approvals
The Tribe has received federal, state and local approvals to build this casino. A gaming compact signed with the State of California on Jan. 31, 2019, authorizes a maximum of 2,000 slot machines.

Management
In January 2021 the Tribe partnered with Palace Hospitality to develop and manage the casino. Palace Hospitality is owned by the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe, which owns the Tachi Palace Casino Resort near Bakersfield, California.

Construction
The temporary structure was completed in January 2024 and opened to the public in February 2024.
