Summary

Responsible for the effective handling of accounting books and records in compliance with established guidelines and policies. Develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control. Oversees gaming activity to ensure functionality and performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures the safe guard of assets and all internal controls and operating procedures are properly followed.
  • Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, new business planning, trended future requirements and operating forecasts.
  • Works with managers and revenue audit personnel to maintain system operations and correct problems or variances, along with tracking and record keeping of the communication/solutions.
  • Maintains all general ledger books and records including preparation of reconciliations, including receiving, balancing, collecting, and verifying computer accounting data handled for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists in the development of the budget, planning and other financial requirements.
  • Ensures departments’ expenses represent actual costs incurred.
  •  Follows all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Prepares a standard set of financial and analytical reports at month-end. Performs analysis on events or any other analysis for management as needed.
  • Prepares and produces reports, as needed, to ensure maximum gaming performance. For example, slot machines section performance, game mix, game layout, denomination mix, hold percentage mix, game program popularity and individual game performance. In addition creates, analyzes, and researches gaming performance. For example, individual slot units’ performance analysis to ensure the units are performing as constructed, programmed and designed, and may require maintaining the SDS files for accuracy, assurance of slot data and conformity to Casino Arizona standards.
  • Assists in facilitating and coordinating moves and changes of slot machines as directed by management and in accordance with established policies and procedures and regulatory requirements along with coordinating modification to gaming devices.
  • Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance and identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly. Researches and prepares economic and statistical reports on subjects such as rate of return, depreciation, cash flow, profit margins, etc.
  • Assists management in developing assumptions regarding the volumes of business that could be expected under the current business plan and under alternative strategies. Assists in the evaluation of assumptions for reasonableness and consistency. Calls to the attention of Finance management those assumptions that  appear to be unreasonable or inconsistent*
  • Assists in updating policies and procedures and MICS regulations for the Finance Department.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Credit Card Compliance requirements commonly known as PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance by attending training provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management. Signature verification of course attendance will be required.
  • Responsible for following the PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance regulations to protect card holder data and adhere to the standards to protect guests’ private card information. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting inappropriate card handling activity, of either customers or by employees, as defined by PCI.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or CPA preferred. 5 years experience in a financial analyst capacity; hospitality or gaming experience preferred; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Accounting software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications

Must have strong analytical, communication and people management skills. Must have excellent problem solving abilities. Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data. Must be able to get along with co-workers and be a team player.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and regularly required to  sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to secondary smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
