Summary Description

The Training Development Specialist is responsible for developing, facilitating, coordinating, and scheduling training programs including but not limited to New Hire Orientation, guest service training, leadership & professional development skills training and property due diligence training.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

Essential duties and tasks that must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Practices, supports, and maintains the Mission, Vision and Values of WarHorse Gaming, LLC.

Accountable for departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures, records, and reports.

Keeps informed of all new developments within the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and company success.

Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines.

Practices positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team members, guests, and visitors at all times.

Develops/creates, implements, and oversees execution of training based on the strategic needs of the organization.

Designs training and developmental programs and processes for employee skill enhancement and career development that target individuals as well as groups.

Performs cause, knowledge, or gap analyses to help determine appropriate training delivery options.

Researches and develops curriculum that is appropriate to the business needs and advances the effectiveness of the learning function by recommending appropriate methods and tools to address training needs.

Constructs leader guides, participant manuals, course evaluations, and other supportive materials to enhance performance improvement strategies.

Partners and consults with department leaders to ensure division and department training materials, SOPs and other training tools are up-to-date and utilized effectively; coaches and provides guidance to department leadership on implementation and utilization of training materials.

Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.

Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Job Specifications

Must be 19 years or older.

Bachelor’s Degree or above in a related field or equivalent experience required.

Minimum three (3) years of Learning and Development/ Training, supervisory and LMS experience, preferably in hospitality industry.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; HRIS and LMS.

Demonstrated outstanding organizational, planning, and project management skills.

Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

Working knowledge of company internal controls and Policies and Procedures.

Travel Requirements

Travel is expected up to 50% of the time for this position. This role is expected to travel between our main office locations and our Casino locations within the state of Nebraska. Travel is expected on a weekly basis for one or more days. Expected travel is during normal business hours and may or may not require an overnight stay.

Work Hours

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Team members must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

Certification Requirements

Is this position responsible for selling, serving, or distributing alcoholic beverages or do they have comp authority? No

Gaming License Required? Ability to secure and maintain NE Gaming License.

Other Certifications? Drivers’ License, Professional Training, Facilitation, OD and/or HR certification preferred.

WarHorse Gaming Lincoln

WarHorse Gaming is a division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., the award-winning economic development corporation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. WarHorse Gaming operates the WarHorse Casino in Lincoln (now open) as well as the WarHorse Casino, in Omaha. Both are in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA). WarHorse Gaming will also operate WarHorse Casino in South Sioux City (opening TBD).

Phase one in Lincoln opened September 24th, 2022, featuring over 9,000 square feet including 425 slot machines along with simulcast and live horse racing. 

WarHorse Gaming Lincoln’s next phase of construction will begin shortly after the Omaha facility’s construction starts. The expansion will double the size of the current facility and add an additional 500 parking stalls at the casino and racetrack. The expanded facility will feature 870 slot machines, six to ten table games, and an expanded dining area for customers. The Lincoln facility’s second phase is planned to take about one year to complete. Subsequent construction phases will see the buildout of the full gaming floor, parking garage, event center, and 220 room hotel.
