SUMMARY:

Responsible for repair and maintenance of all building structures, finishes, and fixtures to ensure Operations are in accordance with applicable building codes on all entities and properties under the control of Grand Casino. Responsible for interpreting design, planning, construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of all building projects at all Grand Casino entities and properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION

• Respond to work orders daily, according to facility needs, and completing tasks on schedule.
• Communicate with appropriate management for coordination and implementation of tasks and timelines.
• Ensure use and labeling of all cleaning materials, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions as outlined in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain strict adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations.
• Perform routine maintenance of building components and mechanical equipment, and update replacement inventory as needed.
• Accountable for the cleanliness and overall condition of the property and grounds when performing tasks.
• Interpret and/or create sketches, blueprints, or pictures to determine dimensions, layout work and estimate materials.
• Safely use a variety of carpenter hand, power, and shop tools and maintain them in proper operating condition.
• Operate equipment such as pneumatic tools, electronic equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts.
• Knowledge of pool maintenance and operations (where applicable).
• Perform general and finish carpentry working the alteration, repair, and maintenance of structures throughout the property.
• Apply wall coverings, paint, stain, and sealers to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
• Perform special refinishing tasks including surface preparation, sanding, mudding, taping, caulking, staining, sealing, and texturing.
• Other duties as assigned that are related to this role.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) years’ experience in building maintenance or occupationally significant combinations of vocational education and/or on-the-job training.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
• Preferred background in carpentry work.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority.
• Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
• Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference.

REASONING ABILITY

• Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations, to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Talk and hear; ability to communicate effectively.
• See and adjust focus to include close, distance, depth, and peripheral vision.
• Stand, walk, run, sit, (up to 8 hours) balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl.
• Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.
• Be able to lift and carry objects up to twenty-five (25) lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
• A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).
• A moderate-to-loud noise level (public areas).
