Starbucks Baristas will deliver truly great service, and to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for our guests. The Barista is generally the first employee that guests encounter so it is imperative that they greet all guests with a warm/genuine smile and be welcoming. Starbucks employees must work well as a team, maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies and gaming regulations. Ensures service standards are met and surpassed by providing customers with prompt, quality coffee selection, purchase, and preparation. Customers and employees will experience a friendly, upbeat and clean atmosphere.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Provides fast, friendly, professional and responsive customer service to Starbucks guests and staff.
- Engages in friendly conversations with guests whenever possible using the 10/5 rule: 10 feet-make eye contact and smile, 5 feet-greet and speak to guest. Says thank you to every guest.
- Provides personalized service and uses guest’s name whenever possible.
- Greets each guest with a warm smile and welcome as they enter the restaurant.
- Operates a cash register/MMS system, ringing proper amount into the register and giving the guest or server the correct change; accounts for all cash, charge and complimentary sales according to established procedure; maintains integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities.
- Keeps designated working area clean and organized, and assists in maintaining cleanliness of Starbucks, including seating areas and condiment station, as necessary or required, in accordance with established health and safety standards. Follows the duty roster.
- Resolves service issues according to service standards.
- Thanks customers, invites them back, wishes them luck and makes it easy for them to get back in play.
- Operates and maintains equipment as required in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures.
- Completes assigned side work as directed.
- Knows and promotes current casino events and programs and can give guests directions to all casino areas.

- Discover customer needs and appropriately suggests product with every customer to enhance service and meet sales goals.
- Demonstrates “just say yes” behavior when taking care of customer needs.
- Prepares a variety of customer beverage orders such as espresso drinks and Coffee to Starbucks standards.
- Presents oneself professionally and demonstrates clear communication by using Star Skills with all customer and partner interactions.
- Follows cash handling and register policies.
- Follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
- Learns and demonstrates creating the Starbucks Experience.
- Learns and demonstrates all performance standards by completing Initial Store Training and passing barista certification with a score of 90% or better.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous cashiering experience in a high volume, sophisticated restaurant preferred
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Excellent customer service/communication skills
- Must be able to accurately and quickly process all cash, and charge transactions.
- Available to work required schedule which may include weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Must meet physical appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
- Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
- Must be able to reach above and below the shoulder, grip small items (i.e., flatware, plates, cups, glasses), bend, stoop and twist while carrying restaurant stock to and from supply areas; able to reach across tables; able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours; able to use hand motions when cleaning and wiping counters and table tops
- Must be able to tolerate industry standard chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing
- Able to tolerate second-hand smoke, noise, bright lights
- Able to work at a fast pace in an often crowded/noisy environment
- Must be able to maintain a neat, professional, well groomed appearance and uphold company appearance/dress standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. (Cash drawer, cash register/POS supplies, tables and chairs).
Work Environment
Employees working the Casino or Bowling Center may be exposed to second-hand smoke and moderate levels of noise.
