Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Security Director the Security Manager is responsible for improving the Security Department officer’s productivity and effectiveness through training, coaching, staff development and skill enhancement. Constantly assesses the Department’s developmental needs and actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate and enhance officer performance. The Security Manager responds to all emergency incidents as required. The Security Manager will assume the duties of the Security Director in the absence of the Director. The Security Manager assumes the duties of Incident Commander as required. The Security Manager may assume duties as a Shift Manager if needed. The Security Manager Monitors, oversees and administers the day-to-day operations while enforcing the rules and regulations along with the policies and procedures and providing excellent customer service utilizing the Tesuque Proud Guest Service Standards.
Note: Native American preference will be given.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide a secured environment for guests, employees, administration and the general public.
- Provide a medical response for guests, employees, administration and the general public.
- Track the Security Department’s training equipment.
- Tracks the Security Department’s training. Updates the Security Director.
- Protect records, assets, merchandise and equipment of the Casino
- Participate in daily security operations by being alert and observant at all times
- Patrol the Casino on a regular basis either by foot or mobile patrol
- Exercise proper currency and escort procedures
- Work closely with local law enforcement and medical personnel as needed
- Prepare routine incident reports on employees, guests or other related incidents
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Take control of or provide support with emergency situations
- Conduct work performance appraisals/evaluations and make recommendations for advancement.
- Monitors and reviews all incident reports for proper content and documentation purposes.
- Attain and retain working knowledge of Casino’s Internal Controls, Security’s Policies and Procedures, Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures
- Promote the highest degree of quality customer service, both internally and externally
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:
- GED or high school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or qualifying degree preferred.
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.
- Minimum of five (5) years Security, Military, Law Enforcement or qualifying experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years in corporate training or adult education
- Experience conducting security training a plus.
- Certified first aid/CPR instructor preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have strong organizational, communication, employee relations, computer and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to function successfully in a team environment.
- Must be able to multitask, due to the tempo of the casino.
- Must be able to perform essential security duties including first aid.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent follow through.
- Must be able to work and interact with departments throughout the organization.
- No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
- Responds to all emergencies as required.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license without restrictions.
- Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress environment.
- Knowledgeable of internal controls, security’s policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, nights and weekends.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to develop and facilitate effective training programs.
- Must have a good understanding of adult learning principles.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain gaming license from the Pueblo of Tesuque Gaming Commission.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Security Manager is responsible for developing and implementing training to improve the department’s readiness to respond to all types of incidents. The Security Manager is responsible to track and monitor the department’s needs to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies. The Security Manager assumes the duties of Security Director in the absence of the Director and acts as the Incident Commander during an emergency event until a higher authority arrives.
Following initial training, the Security Manager is expected to perform duties independently, demonstrating proficiency and autonomy in task execution. Regular spot checks are conducted to evaluate accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. The work environment includes a variety of settings, such as: indoors, outdoors, gaming machines, food, oils, and hot surfaces. The incumbent occasionally exposed to loud noise, change in temperatures, and second-hand smoke.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Due to the nature and scope of this position, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit and stand for prolonged periods. The employee will use hands and fingers to handle or feel various items, conduct repetitious movements and tasks such as operating a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds and be able to help move people in medical or emergency situations.

Requires working in an environment with exposure to smoke and loud noise.
