Under the direction of the Beverage Supervisor, the Bar Back assists Bartenders, enabling them to focus on providing premier guest service to patrons. By partnering with team members in operational processes, greeting patrons, and keeping the bars clean and stocked, the Bar Back allows Bartenders and Cocktail Servers to operate more efficiently in their respective roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Keeps the bar stations fully stocked (ice, mixes, garnishes, napkins, straws, etc.). Provide coverage to other bars as requested and to ensure coverage during meal periods. 2. Responsible for overall cleanliness, organization, and preparedness of immediate workspace and adjacent areas. Ensures a clean, sanitary and thoroughly stocked bar. Empties trash as necessary throughout the shift, and at the end of the shift. Keeps bar surfaces clean, wipes down inside of reach-ins and beer coolers to prevent condensation buildup, cleans all garnish trays at the end of each shift or as needed, wipes down all mix containers and alcohol bottles at the end of each shift. Keeps the floors clean and presentable and ensures that all debris is collected. Ensures stations are ready for next shift. 3. Prepares fruit garnishes for each shift. Assists Bartenders in mixing and preparing bulk alcohol and mix recipes for volume sales, such as concentrated juices, Sangria, and Spiced Cider. 4. Assists Bartenders with greeting new guests and taking drink orders. Helps the Bartender retrieve or serve beer, sodas, or bottled beverages to guests or Cocktail Servers at the Bartender's direction during busy times. May also be required to serve drinks and collect payment. 5. Ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently, performing regular checks and requesting maintenance as needed. Verify that all necessary items, such as tools, supplies, and ingredients, are adequately stocked and readily available for use. This includes monitoring inventory levels, replenishing stock, and coordinating with inventory control to request additional products, with management verification when required. 6. Notifies immediate supervisor of any problems that occur, including reporting of any guest who appears to be intoxicated or under the age of 21. 7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum three (3) months of related experience or training required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
- Must have a warm, inviting and engaging personality and be comfortable in an entertainment setting.
- Must possess excellent customer service and communications skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
- At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler’s Card within 90 days of employment. .
