Under the guidance of the Manager, Network Engineering the Network Engineer III designs the deployment of enterprise networks, and defines network best practices and standards for the enterprise. This position serves as technical lead for solving highly complex network incidents by supporting the network engineering team members. This position also serves as a role model establishing documentation standards and enhancing the network engineering document library.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Works as the technical lead during the design and deployment of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless local-area networks (WLAN), software-defined networking (SDN), and other communications systems, as required.2.    Collaborates with partners and manufacturers on defining upgrade and lifecycle network systems and tools.3.    Responsible for solutions to complex network issues such as routing, switching and firewalls in a timely manner.4.    Assists in defining the strategies used to integrate new software systems into the network.5.    Leads the definition of documentation standards for network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records in accordance with network best practices.6.    Responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating day-to-day network issues.7.    Maintains the network monitoring, alerting, and analytics platforms for the corresponding network systems.8.    Assists in defining the strategy used in monitoring, analytics, and alerting of network systems.9.    Responsible for the proactive monitoring and performance validation of network and communications systems.10.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

 EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in-depth network engineering is required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

  • Experience with Network Access Control and Software Defined Networks is required.

  • Experience establishing network designs, and documenting network standards and best practices is required.

  • Experience with network providers such as Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)/Aruba, and Meraki is required.

  • Experience with Network Load Balancers is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Must have experience working with vendors and partners on product evaluations, solution designs and installations.

  • Technical support experience on organizations running gaming systems is preferred.

  • Must have strong collaboration, written and verbal communication, and attention to detail skills.

  • Must have strong technical leadership and decision-making skills, and the ability to work well independently in the absence of supervision and under pressure such as strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis for technical support and incident troubleshooting is required.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional level or comparable certification from other network equipment manufactures is required.

  • Preferred certifications include Palo Alto Networks certification, Aruba/HP professional level certification, and Expert Level certifications in networking technologies.

  • Select One of the Following: Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other
  • office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings,
  • via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
