The Banquet Captain is directly responsible for all functions directly assigned to him/her and will assist the banquet manager and assistant manager in supervising all banquet personnel to ensure that all banquet functions, concerts and all catered events are carried out in a timely, efficient, courteous, and professional manner.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Experience supervising a large banquet staff and familiar with planning and supervising numerous banquet events at the same time
- Maintains constant contact with the banquet chef and kitchen areas to ensure complete effective communication between food production and food service. Review all food items and major ingredients as well as coordinate of food service equipment being utilized for each event. Gives exact count after guests have been seated and advises to last minute timing and requests.
- Supervises clearing and post-function clean up. Conducts post-event service debriefing for each function assigned, making notations for captains’ report. Checks servers out, making sure that function rooms, back of house areas, liquor room, and equipment storage areas are clean, organized, and secure.
- Coordinates requisitions for food, beverage, and all necessary banquet equipment supplies.

Education And/Or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience in an upscale hotel/resort food and beverage operation is preferred but not required.
- Must have at least one year of Customer Service experience.
- Must be able to lift/move/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
