Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Human Resources Director, supervises, administers and coordinates training activities for all Pueblo and Sandia entities.  As a member of the management team, directly supports the strategic planning and budgeting processes for HR.  Responsible for developing and coaching direct reports.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for assessing and prioritizing departmental training needs, assisting in contracting with service providers and/or providing training opportunities.
  2. Responsible for designing, coordinating and administering comprehensive employee training programs. Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art training material available. Research external training resources and make recommendations for appropriate training – internal or external.
  3. Analyze content and structure, make suggestions for enhancement, assign instructors for all training programs.
  4. Develop appropriate policies and procedures for the Training function.
  5. Publish approved policies and employee handbook updates on the HR Website.
  6. Develops and maintains an adequate training library.
  7. Responsible for projecting future training needs and completing a training budget.
  8. May perform special projects or additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  10. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia. 

 Additional Responsibilities

  1. Provides direct management and supervision to all reporting Team Members typically for a larger department, operational area or more complex professional department. 
  2. Functions as an advisor to the operations and sets goals that are results oriented, organized, and account for business challenges. 
  3. Guides the team to achieve a well-defined structure and efficient operation. 
  4. Delegates responsibilities to the most qualified Team Members through observing and understanding strengths and weaknesses. 
  5. Creates an environment of teamwork, through communicating common goals, shows appreciation for team members contributions and on-going support, and leads by example. 
  6. Collaborates and communicates effectively in a professional and articulate manner. 
  7. Demonstrates strong knowledge of all reporting departments/operational areas.
  8. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems, generate solutions, and implement them.

 Key Performance Indicators

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success.  KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

  1. Ability to supervise, coordinate, direct and assign work.
  2. Ability to analyze and develop timelines, project resources, departmental training needs and evaluate results.
  3. Ability to develop comprehensive training programs and provide instruction.
  4. Ability to develop and administer a department budget.
  5. Ability to work effectively with management and employees.
  6. Ability to draft complex reports and materials and give lengthy oral and written presentations to all levels of management and employees.
  7. Must have proven experience in designing and delivering training programs and possess highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

   Education And Experience  

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Business Management, Business Administration or a related field of study and four (4) years directly related experience coordinating a training function, to include conducting and evaluating training programs and supervising training staff. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Preferred

  1. Master’s degree

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  2. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  3. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
