Reports to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Business Growth Events is responsible for overseeing all aspects of business growth project events in varying scale (e.g. Yaamava’ Resort & Casino golf tournaments and other cross property events), from concept development to onsite management including strategic planning, vendor relations, marketing, logistics, and execution. Ensures a successful event delivery while managing budgets and timelines. Cultivates relationships with key partners, clients, vendors, and internal teams to meet specific event objectives and enterprise vision to elevate brand presence. The primary focus is on achieving high-level organizational goals and maximizing event impact for the enterprise, while creating experiences that inspire, engage, and connect our audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Serves as an active leader in developing comprehensive event strategies to business development projects that are aligned with enterprise objectives and have oversight responsibilities to ensure successful event concept development and implementation. Brings event concepts and vision into successful realities. The Yaamava’s Resort & Casino golf tournaments being one of the largest and most significant events, and how this event can continue to be elevated year over year2.    Builds and maintain strategic partnerships to enhance event offerings and sponsorship opportunities.3.    Manages relationships with partners, venues, vendors, and suppliers, including contract negotiations, and ensure timely delivery of services. Collaborates with marketing functions and other departments to ensure cohesive and effective promotional efforts are aligned with business development event objectives with organizational goals.4.    Develops marketing plans in coordination with the Shared Values and Property Marketing teams to promote events through various channels including digital marketing, public relations, and social media to generate interest. Monitoring and analyzing the success of promotional activities, using data to refine strategies and improve future campaigns or events.5.    Manages and oversees a portfolio of business development event projects simultaneously, to include all logistical aspects such as venue selection, site setup, registration, attendee and volunteer management, and onsite operations.6.    Develops and completes retrospective reports to measure event success, budgetary impact, and gather feedback for continuous improvement and recommendations for future events. Documents a comprehensive event plan, provide event training, and transfers ownership to the customer or enterprise for future event execution.7.    Ensures compliance with all legal, health, and safety regulations.8.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
  • Proven experience in event management (small- and large-scale) and partnership development.
  • Strong leadership and project management and organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues that may arise during planning and execution of events.
  • Understanding of event marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Expertise in event budgeting and financial management.
  • Strong negotiations abilities and contract management skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Select One of the Following: Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
