Position Summary

The Public Area Lead performs custodial functions to ensure the cleanliness of the facility to include the casino, and other public and employee areas in accordance with management directives. In addition to the assigned custodial functions, the Public Areas Lead provides mentorship to public area attendants and assumes the role of Public Areas Supervisor in the Public Areas Supervisors’ absence.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Performs custodial duties: dusting, vacuuming, and trash disposal, restroom cleaning; cleaning of windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and carpet cleaning.
  2. Assists the supervisor with directing, leading, and evaluating work assigned to Public Areas personnel.
  3. Assists the supervisor with the oversight of departmental duties:  dusting, vacuuming, trash disposal, restroom cleaning; cleaning of windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and carpet cleaning to include the cleaning of Bingo Hall, Slot Machines, and other furnishings.
  4. Assists in maintaining inventory and order departmental cleaning supplies as required.
  5. Assigns Public Areas staff daily cleaning duties, when standing in as a supervisor.
  6. Prepares and maintains files, records, reports, and related documents in support of Public Areas activities, as assigned.
  7. Enforces Housekeeping Department standard operating procedures,
  8. During an emergency evacuation and fire, may be required to perform emergency mechanical controls, such as turning off/on electric power and gas.
  9. Familiarity and ability to adjust Casino and Resort thermostats.
  10. In the absence of the Supervisor, signs off and monitors Public Areas employees’ timecards for accuracy,
  11. Meet and coordinate with Public Areas Supervisor prior to each assigned shift.
  12. Is responsible for submitting all maintenance issues into the EAM system on the cell phone.  And following up with Facilities Department to ensure work has been completed satisfactorily.
  13. Must attend and complete are required departmental training to include but not limited to; bio clean-up, carpet shampooing, and chemical safety.
  14. Is responsible for reporting to the supervisor any kind of maintenance or hazardous issue when performing their tasks.
  15. Is responsible for turning in any kind of lost and found into Security. 
  16. Will complete any project issued to them by their supervisor or Public Areas Manager.
  17. Is responsible for always providing proper customer service by assisting our external/internal guests when they have questions or requests.
  18. Ensures that all keys are issued and signed out and returned by end of shift.
  19. Is responsible for ensuring that all Public Areas personnel are completing all mandatory and required computer-based training.
  20. Provides input to Public Areas Supervisor assist in the completion of subordinate’s 90 day and annual appraisals.  Much of this input would be provided in employee performance journals and attendance logs.
  21. Assists with performing orientation and training of new Public Areas employees. Making sure that all new employees deal with Resort and Casino guests in a friendly and courteous manner and adheres to the Public Areas Service standards.
  22. Responsible for all checks of department vehicles.  Checking & filling up fluid levels, gasoline levels, tire pressure and replacing batteries when needed.
  23. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo Sandia.

 Key Performance Indicators

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success.  KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  1. Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
  2. Knowledge of operation of tools used in the performance of Public Areas work.
  3. Ability to prepare and maintain office reports and records.
  4. Ability to maintain an equipment operating supply inventory.
  5. Must be able to retain and apply information learned during departmental training sessions,
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public and employee relations.
  7. Ability to maintain overall Public Areas supplies used in the Casino and Resort operations.
  8. Ability to administer first aid until the Security Department assumes control.
  9. Must be able to make quick decisions and provide suggestions for possible improvement.
  10. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

   Education And Experience  

Required

  1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. One (1) year experience in environmental services work environment.

Preferred

  1. Prior supervisory experience.

Note:  Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. 

License/Certifications/Registrations

1.  Must possess and maintain valid, unrestricted New Mexico driver’s license.
