Position Summary

Responsible for providing exceptional service to guests, in multiple bars and restaurants. Primary duty will be to take and deliver drink and food orders efficiently, ensuring guest satisfaction and in adherence to all applicable regulations and guidelines with alcohol services.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Greets guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor, providing a positive first impression.
  2. Takes and accurately records drink orders into the Point-Of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.  Avoidance of any verbal orders.
  3. Maintains a professional and approachable attitude, engaging with guests to enhance their experience.
  4. Monitors and intervenes service to guests who appear intoxicated according to guidelines, and handles challenging situations with tact and diplomacy, notifies an on-duty supervisor to follow up with the guests.
  5. Sets up the cocktail area at beginning of shift to include but not limited to; reorganizing furniture in assigned venue, placing table tents, and slicing fruit used for garnish.  Breaks down the cocktail area at closing to include but not limited to; removal of empty cups and trash, remove table tents, and wiping down furniture in assigned venue.
  6. Participates in daily stand-up meetings to ensure property communications are understood.
  7. Timely completion of computer assisted training as required.
  8. Collects orders from bartender, adds appropriate garnish, places on tray, and serves to guests with cocktail napkins.
  9. Supports a positive and inclusive work environment by fostering teamwork, respect and open communication.
  10. Collaborates effectively with bartenders, servers, hosts, and other team members to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
  11. Maintains knowledge of all in-house services as well as local information and be able to assist guests when solicited.
  12. Responsible for maintenance of tables regarding the ongoing removal of empty glassware during service and the complete clearing of tables after guests have departed.
  13. Identifies opportunities to upsell premium or specialty beverages, promoting additional menu items and special promotions, utilizes suggestive selling techniques.
  14. Utilizes guest’s name when known, at the time that the tendered bill is presented and offers a fond farewell.
  15. Always adheres to the property standards on uniform appearance.
  16. Maintains awareness of and complies with health and safety guidelines, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
  17. Processes guest payments accurately and efficiently, including cash and credit card payments.
  18. Completes all opening and closing side work as assigned per each shift.
  19. Ensures responsible alcohol service requirements are upheld by oneself as well as co-workers to include checking all patrons for valid identification and refusing service to patrons who are showing signs of intoxication.
  20. Serves food items as required by venue. 
  21. Operates POS System, ringing proper amount into the register and giving the guest or server the correct change; accounts for all cash, charges, and complimentary sales according to established procedure; maintains integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities.
  22. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  1. Strong understanding of beverage offerings, including cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers.
  2. Customer focused approach, anticipating and fulfilling guest needs to enhance their experience.
  3. Knowledge of local regulations and laws governing alcohol service, including age restriction and responsible serving practices.
  4. Knowledge of brands, prices, and garnishes.
  5. Knowledgeable of basic sanitation in accordance with Indian Health Services requirements.
  6. Ability to multitask, manage multiple orders at once, and give excellent customer service in a fast paced environment.
  7. Ability to understand and accurately relay guest orders via Point-of-sale system.
  8. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively and professionally with guests and team members.
  9. Proficiency in cash handling and processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
  10. Knowledge of bar and restaurant operations.
  11. Interpersonal Skills – Considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others; adjusts approaches to suit different people and situations; may deal with people who are difficult, hostile, or distressed. 
  12. Experience with Point-Of-Sale systems.
  13. Detail oriented with strong customer service focus.
  14. Ability to follow written and oral directions given by leadership.
  15. Ability to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and others.
  16. Maintains the highest standard of personal hygiene.
  17. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

   Education And Experience  

Required

  1. One (1) year serving experience in an establishment that serves beer, wine, and spirits.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  3. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must obtain and maintain a New Mexico Alcohol Server’s License prior to hire date.
