Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plumbing systems on Pueblo of Sandia Facilities.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Maintains and repairs all general plumbing components to include toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, and drains.
  2. Installs, maintains and repairs water and drainage systems, plumbing fixtures,
  3. ice machines, equipment, faucets, pools, sump pumps, backflows, garbage
  4. disposals, and fire suppression systems by inspecting systems, replacing
  5. corroded pipes, draining unheated water lines in outdoor facilities and
  6. removing backflow preventers to winterize lines, replacing defective piping,
  7. cleaning out drains, replacing and repairing defective faucets, toilets, urinals, and installing fixtures, and roughing in waterlines and renovations.
  8. Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat exchangers.
  9. Repairs and replaces radiator valves, traps, and condensate pipes.
  10. Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps.
  11. Installs, tests, and repairs all sizes of backflow prevention devices.
  12. Troubleshoots and repairs steam, water, and gas utility distribution systems.
  13. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  14. Troubleshoots non-working fixtures, valves, irrigation systems, and/or lift station pumps to identify the nature of the problem and type of repair needed.
  15. Replaces broken fixtures, valves, pumps, controllers, and/or irrigation heads to restore restroom, lift station, or irrigation system functionality.
  16. Repairs a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves, swimming pool pumps.
  17. Unplugged fixtures, lines, and related devices to restore service.
  18. Install new piping for HVAC, water, gas as needed.
  19. Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
  20. Performing applicable plumbing and gas related inspections for contracted new construction and repairs. 
  21. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

  1. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills with all direct work associates as well as networking with all Team Members is essential throughout Pueblo of Sandia whether they hold public facing and/or back-of-the-house positions.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  1. Knowledge of plumbing principles, practices, and techniques.
  2. Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and guidelines.
  3. Knowledge of repair principles, practices, and techniques for a variety of standard fixtures, valves, and related items.
  4. Knowledge of operating principles of a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves, and related items, including operating pressures.
  5. Ability to determine the type of repair that is appropriate for various types of plumbing fixtures, valves, pumps, and similar devices.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot a variety of plumbing systems, fixtures, valves, and related items.
  7. Plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair skills.
  8. Ability to perform preventative maintenance according to published guidelines.
  9. Knowledge of water, and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair.
  10. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  11. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  12. Ability to read/interpret blueprints, schematic, or exploded views of a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves, pumps, and related items.

   Education And Experience  

Required

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Five (5) years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  3. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred

  1. Experience with sprinkler and fire suppression systems.

Note:  Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. 

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. The following certification is required prior to employment start date:
    1. Journeyman Plumber License.
    2. Journeyman Gas License.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
