Position Summary

Under general supervision perform construction and general maintenance work on Tribal homes.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Capable of performing all the following tasks:

  1. Completes assigned work orders including preparation of homes for summer/winter weather, preventive maintenance routines, minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues.
  2. Inspects homes for repairs/replacement including electrical fixtures and bulbs, plumbing leaks and clogs, heater and water filters, flooring, windows, doors, water heaters, furnaces and testing for carbon monoxide and gas.
  3. Using hand and power tools, assists in erecting new and/or renovation of existing homes.
  4. Performs basic carpentry, cement finishing, electrical repair, plumbing, plastering, painting, glazing, roofing, and sheet rock work.  
  5. Maintains record of repairs and use of inventory.  Prepares simple reports of work completed.
  6. Notifies supervisor of equipment and supplies needed; maintains inventory and picks up supplies.
  7. Assists with field maintenance for landscaping and general grounds responsibilities when needed.
  8. The above-listed duties are intended to be general in nature and level of work     performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
  9. Assist in utility repair, grounds keeping, and custodial duties.
  10. Cross training in trouble shooting and learning the operation and fundamentals of refrigerated air, residential circuits, and plumbing/gas services.
  11. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

  2. Strong interpersonal skills with all direct work associates as well as networking with all Team Members is essential throughout Pueblo of Sandia whether they hold public facing and/or back-of-the-house positions.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success.  KPI’s will be shared to all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  1. Ability to perform construction activities using hand and power tools
  2. Ability to work in a safe manner following established safety regulations
  3. Ability to operate equipment used in residential construction projects
  4. Ability to assess/troubleshoot and complete basic repairs to HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
  5. Ability to maintain equipment and supply inventory
  6. Ability to lead the work of assigned personnel
  7. Knowledge of basic carpentry
  8. Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, and procedures.
  9. Some knowledge of compounds and potential effects when mixed or used.
  10. Ability to perform duties considering the full use of Personal Protective Equipment without restrictions.
  11. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional holidays and rotational on-call schedule.

   Education And Experience  

Required

  1. High School Diploma, GED Certification or equivalent.
  2. Six (6) months prior experience in general construction, building maintenance and/or yard maintenance work.

Note:  Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. 

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s license.
  2. CDL License is preferred
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. (Up to 50 lbs.)

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.  (Up to 50 lbs.)

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward. . (Up to 50 lbs.)

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Walking

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on various work surfaces throughout internal or external locations.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Stooping
