Position Summary
Under direct supervision of the Operations Maintenance Supervisor, performs the overall custodial functions and cleanliness of the Pueblo of Sandia and related facilities, including heavy cleaning, in accordance with management directives. Custodial duties include cleaning work at any or all Tribal offices and buildings around the Pueblo, as needed or required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Under supervision performs custodial duties: dusting, vacuuming, trash disposal, clean and sanitize restrooms windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and carpets.
- Complies with Facilities Department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Under an emergency evacuation and fire, evacuates the building or voluntarily assists the Public Works Department in emergency evacuation procedures.
- Moving or lifting furniture and boxes.
- Cleans ceiling fixtures, through the proper and safe use of a ladder.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance of custodial equipment, and cleaning of equipment.
- Reports equipment repair requirements to supervisor.
- Trash disposal as required.
- Separates all acceptable material for recycling such as cardboard, aluminum, and plastics.
- Serves as mentor when assigned to train a new custodial Team Member, during probationary period, using the buddy system.

- Occasionally on scheduled projects, perform extensive hard floor stripping, waxing, sealing, finishing, and buffing.
- Clean interior and exterior windows within their assigned facilities.
- Wash, scrub, and clean walls doors and entrances from nests, bugs, birds, and pests.
- Ability to report for extreme weather post care creating safe conditions in occupied spaces for residential or commercial applications.
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

- Must maintain a neat appearance.
- Strong interpersonal skills with all direct work associates as well as networking with all Team Members is essential throughout Pueblo of Sandia whether they hold public facing and/or back-of-the-house positions.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared to all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to work with others.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the performance of custodial work.
- Ability to prepare custodial reports.
- Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public and employee relations.
- Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties considering the full use of Personal Protective Equipment without restrictions.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and ability to understand the SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
Education And Experience
Required
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Preferred
Custodial experience.
Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience.
License/Certifications/Registrations
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
- Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
- Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

- Duties are performed indoors with certain outdoor activity as required. Outdoor duties are subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather.
- Subject to potential hazards such as cleaning solvents and cleaning compounds.
- Subject to potential hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, and hand tools.
- Additional potential hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, dust, mist, and gases.
- Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running, and the ability to assume prone positions.
- Work hours subject to change with overtime work required as approved by management. Projects will require them to perform their duties during closures including after hours and/or weekends.
- Exposure to extreme and very slick walking surfaces.
- Exposure to bodily waste and fluids, pests and various animals.
- Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
