Position Summary

Assists in the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the Pueblo’s total well-being initiatives.  Develops programs that create wellness, motivation, and provides tools to Tribal and community members that help them adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Assists in planning and implementing multifaceted program(s) designed to meet the health and recreational needs of Pueblo residents.
  2. Assists in scheduling and publicizing activities and events aimed at meeting the needs and interests of Pueblo residents to include the use of equipment and facilities.
  3. Assists in developing, reviewing, and evaluating program effectiveness/objectives and redesigning programs/objectives as necessary.
  4. Assists in drafting and monitoring budgetary expenditures for Center operations, maintenance, and repair of existing and additional equipment.
  5. Assists in maintaining a comprehensive inventory on all equipment and Center components needing maintenance work to include frequency of inspection, adjustment, and service and repair requirements.
  6. Conducts inspections on facilities and equipment to ensure that operating procedures are in compliance and maintenance repairs/improvements are being performed.  Recommends building modifications as necessary.
  7. Ensures that facilities and equipment meet safety and health codes and rectifies unsafe conditions.
  8. Oversees and monitors the use of the Center by tenants and clients.

10. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to

      report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for

      Pueblo Sandia.

  1. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned commensurate to

       the age group assigned.

 Key Performance Indicators

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success.  KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

  7. Knowledge of Wellness Center operations required.
  8. Knowledge of the processes used in the development of health and recreational programs required.
  9. Knowledge of and ability to develop and administer a budget.
  10. Knowledge of Native American cultures, traditions, and practices.
  11. Knowledge of repair and maintenance requirements for a large building or facility.
  12. Knowledge of community social, health, and fitness problems.
  13. Knowledge of processes used in organizational development and planning processes.
  14. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with team members and supervisors.
  15. Ability to create an environment of teamwork by communicating common goals and showing appreciation for team members contributions and on-going support.

   Education And Experience 

Required

  1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years of education from an accredited college or university.
  3. Minimum of one (1) year facility and/or recreational management experience.
  4. Must have, or be willing to work toward, certification in the following:
  • Fitness/Health Certifications through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) or
  • The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or
  • Kenneth Cooper’s Aerobic Research Institute Certification and

Note:  Any combination of education and experience totaling four (4) years may substitute for required education and experience but must include at least two (2) years supervisory experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico driver’s license.
  2. Must be able to successfully pass a Background and Character Investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.
  4. CPR Certification.
  5. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Balancing

Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
